Healthy eating after breastfeeding ends

  • Breastfeed exclusively for at least 4-6 months
  • Avoid 100% juice until at least 6 months; don't use a bottle, use a cup
  • After introducing juice, give no more than 4-6 ounces a day.
  • Pick foods for nutritional quality not calories
  • Let kids decide how much to eat; don't force kids to finish food
  • Parents decide what to eat and when to eat
  • Even if your child refuses a healthy food, keep offering it.
