Emotions and Interaction

Emotions and Interaction

Your baby may be more social, cooing, laughing, and smiling, when playing with you. Smiling, reaching out to you, and fussing when bored or distressed are all ways that your baby interacts with you. Now your baby may begin to react differently to people she knows than to people she doesn't. She may reward familiar people with a special smile. Your baby may even reach out just a bit as though inviting you to lift her. She may laugh and gurgle when she recognizes familiar things.

Try planning a special playtime every day when you and your baby are rested and alert. Games like peek-a-boo, singing songs or reading a story give you both time to get to know each other. You may find that your baby will laugh or coo when he hears those first words to that favorite song!
