Reaching And Rolling

  • Your baby may be stronger than a month ago-maybe even strong enough to roll over! At this age, many babies can roll from their stomachs to their backs. Neck and shoulder muscles are stronger, so babies can often hold their heads up for minutes at a time when on their stomachs. Just as exciting, four month olds are developing their reaching and grasping skills. Your baby may now reach for objects, briefly grasping and mouthing them.
  • Try gently shaking a rattle, plastic ring, or soft doll within your baby's sight and reach. Urge your baby to reach for it. Help your baby grasp it by placing it gently on your baby's open palm.
