Highlights of the zoo, the museum, the park, and memorable people such as the red-dress girl, Grandma, and the street people are found in poems where titles reflect their contents. Black and white block prints appear on alternate page spreads and show a blend of intergenerational and mulitcultureal city residents. The illustrations serve a decorative purpose and portray youthful vitality manifested in a variety of experineces. Lively content notwithstanding, they are likely to have minimal appeal to the intended audience. Unfortunately, a general lackluster tone pervades this book. The style of language strongly suggests that the poems are more appropriately about children than for those who fall within the intended audience age range.
