Typical diets for different ages

At four-and-a-half months your baby's diet may look like this:

  • 5-6 feedings of breast milk or 28-32 ounces formula
  • Breakfast: cereal and fruit (1/2 jar)
  • Dinner: cereal and fruit or vegetable (1/2 jar)

A typical menu at five months might look like this:

  • Five breast milk or formula feedings
  • Breakfast: cereal and fruit
  • Lunch: vegetable (1/2 jar)
  • Dinner: cereal and fruit (1/2 jar), vegetable (1/2 jar)

A typical menu at six months may look like this:

  • Four breast milk or formula feedings (7am, 11:30am, 6:30pm, 10:30pm)
  • 8:30AM: cereal and fruit (1/2-1 jar)
  • 11:30AM: vegetable, meat, breast milk, or formula
  • 3PM: plain water, water mixed with juice, or juice
  • 5PM: cereal and fruit, vegetable
