Description

The Maryland Justice Coalition comprises more than 200 inmates, ex-offenders, and family members of incarcerated individuals, advocates, faith institutions and community-serving organizations who seek a fair system of criminal justice in Maryland. Through advocacy, organizing and public education, MJC works to achieve (1) the implementation of processes and programs that facilitate the successful reentry of newly-released offenders into their communities, (2) the improved functioning of systems that impact prisoners' conditions of confinement and (3) the elimination of laws, policies, procedures and practices that result in the over-incarceration and overrepresentation of poor people and people of color.

Services Provided

MJC is an advocacy organization. We do not provide direct services to our members or our constituents. Our goal is to change both law and policy as they affect those caught up in the criminal justice system and those who love them. MJC invites the participation and leadership of young people interested in community organizing, research and writing and criminal and corrections law and policy.
