Text for Teens
Don't stop cold turkey. Video games, unlike other addictions, take up much time. Stopping altogether may leave a massive void in your life and cause you to relapse. Play in moderation by setting a specific number of hours (or minutes) to play per day or a countdown on your phone. Once that timer goes off, take a break, and stop playing. For each hour of play, stand up, walk around, etc., for a few minutes. It's unhealthy to sit in front of a screen for hours at a time without a break. You can also try investing time into movement-based games and include your family and friends too. Not only will it allow you to continue playing, but it will include your family in your hobby. If you have trouble breaking free from video games and affecting your daily life, try reaching out to a mental health professional who can help you identify and possibly address the problem.
