You indicated that you didn't have such a good relationship with your
own dad. You may want to imagine having things come out better between your child
and you. If you find yourself having second thoughts about your own tendencies as
a parent, keep in mind that babies are all different and your baby will guide you.
When you watch carefully to see how (name of child) is expressing his/her needs
and what works to satisfy those needs you will get to be a responsive parent.
Babies who are responded to promptly in the early months learn to be confident
that their caregiver can be trusted to respond to their needs. This makes them be
better able to be patient later (not spoiled).
