Groups led by professionals like psychologists and social workers
can help kids learn social skills, like making eye contact, introducing oneself
to others and inviting friends to play. Many psychologists and social workers
run groups in their offices. You can also search for groups online.
Try your area's local autism society (which may have information for groups
for kids with and without autism). Also try your local pediatric hospital.
Your child's school principal, psychologist or social worker may also have
information about local social skills groups. The best groups have kids with
differing skill levels so everyone can learn from one another.
