Not Just ADHD (for teens)

Not Just ADHD (for teens)

Kids with ADHD have a hard time with paying attention or having too much energy. Kids with ADHD often have a hard time with other things too. In fact, about 60% of kids with ADHD have such a hard time with something else that they are diagnosed with an additional disorder. If you have ADHD, you may have a hard time with other things too.

Here are some things kids with ADHD may also have a hard time with:

  • Struggling to learn reading, writing or math (even when intelligence is not the problem)
  • Feeling sad, depressed or down
  • Having lots of fears or worries
  • Following rules and directions
  • Getting in trouble for things like fighting or lying

Sometimes it can be hard to figure out where these problems are coming from. Maybe they are because of ADHD or maybe they are a separate problem. Either way, it is important to get help. If you are struggling with more than ADHD, tell your parents and your doctor about it. You do not need to be embarrassed. Lots of kids have a hard time with these things. There are things that can be done to help.
