"The gravity of the problem of human sexual violence has driven the enactment of numerous federal and state laws designed to manage sex offenders. Although such laws are very expensive to implement, their efficacy remains unknown. Careful scientific investigations in the area of human sexual aggression are relatively new, but there have been significant achievements within the last decade.
