Panic Anxiety and Its Treatments

Resource Type

Book

Description

"Although the clinical phenomenology of panic disorder and agoraphobia has been part of the literature for over 100 years, panic disorder was not included in DSM until 1980, or in ICD until the recently published 10th revision. In light of recent developments, the World Psychiatric Association established a Task Force on Panic Anxiety and Its Treatment. This book, a report of that task force, reviews the clinical and epidemiological findings regarding panic anxiety, including: *The validity of the diagnostic concepts *the evidence for efficacy and safety of current treatments *the available knowledge regarding current clinical practices in relation to research findings and public health needs, and the implication of these *findings for clinical practice and public policy *areas for future research *recommendations for future educational research programs" --(www.appi.org)
