Organization - Private, Non-Profit

Description

Asian Pacific Psychological Services was founded by four dedicated Asian mental health professionals in March 1996 to address huge gaps in mental health service delivery to the Asian Pacific population in the East Bay. While the Asian Pacific population exploded during the last two decades in the Bay Area, the mental health resources for Asian immigrant and refugee families, children and youth in particular, were inadequate. The co-founders had a vision to create an organization that faithfully represented its service constituents and their needs in its program design, staffing, and governing. In order to fulfill that vision, the founding members created culturally competent programs reflecting the diverse cultural and linguistic needs of the Asian Pacific community.
