Video - Child
Based on the work of Dr. Mel Levine and the All Kinds of Minds Institute, these videos focus on childrenís struggles and successes with reading. Part of the Developing Minds series on learning differences, this set includes four video programs and four guides. The videos shows children and early adolescents in classroom and home situations struggling with one or more reading subskills: decoding, comprehension and reading retention. The videos also explore the reading process, common reading problems that many students face and practical strategies that teachers and parents can use to help children become better readers. Viewers will gain insights into these challenges and how they relate to breakdowns in such key areas of brain function as attention, memory and language. Observations of students' reading problems and strategies to address them are discussed by Dr. Levine, other experts, teachers, parents and children themselves.
