The courts may assign a conservator (legal guardian) to individuals who, because of their mental disorder, cannot provide for themselves either on a temporary or permanent basis. Although the Conservatorship/Placement program cannot initiate Conservatorships, it does provide placement, monitoring and coordination of services for consumers placed on Conservatorship by the courts.
