Bathroom situation

Sometimes the setup of a bathroom can dissuade a child from using the toilet. Your child should be able to access the potty or toilet on his or her own. At home, set up a plastic training potty your child can get on himself or herself. A plastic child size toilet seat with a step stool for access may be harder to get on but can work for taller children or those who insist on using the same toilet as the adults. At school, if there isn't a child-size toilet then ask the director to setup a child-size potty. Also your child should be able to have privacy. At home, allow them to close the bathroom door for privacy if they want. In school, make sure that a stall or curtain is available in bathrooms with more than one toilet. Safety is also key. Make sure that your child is not left alone with an unfamiliar adult in the bathroom. Only teachers should accompany your child to the toilet. Teach your child that no one but parents and doctors should touch their genitals or "private parts".
