Program
The Chesapeake Bay Eco-Challenge offers children the unique opportunity to discover and study the Chesapeake Bay and its many eco-systems. Each day, children will explore by kayak a different bay eco-system, including wetlands, marshes, water trails and beaches of the upper Chesapeake watershed. Nature is our classroom and campers will experience true hands-on learning while discovering incredible aquatic life, habitats, and food chains. Bald eagles, painted turtles, great blue heron, osprey, clams, and Chesapeake blue crabs are just some of the wildlife to be discovered in this week-long program. Additional topics such as tides, currents, weather and water safety are also covered. Children will swim, kayak, snorkel, seine, and fish while learning about how they can become the next stewards of the Chesapeake Bay. This program is conducted at multiple locations along the Gunpowder River and its estuaries.
