Instant breakfast or Pediasure

Instant breakfast or Pediasure

Children taking stimulant medication often have less appetite when the medicine is in effect. It is important to assure that your child gets enough calories over the course of the day, even if he or she does not feel much like eating at lunchtime. A good breakfast with protein will help keep his or her energy up during the day. Pediasure or Instant Breakfast are high protein and calorie drinks that taste good and go down fast before lack of appetite takes over. This kind of drink can be used if there is too little time for breakfast, or as an afternoon or bedtime snack. You can also make a similar drink by adding 1/2 the amount of powdered milk as required to make it up full strength to a glass of whole fat milk and add flavoring, homogenized egg (not raw), corn oil or ice cream.
