School clubs that meet after school or during the school day are especially good for
older elementary and middle school kids. Many schools have dance, school newspaper,
cheerleading, art, model United Nations, science and book clubs. If your school doesn't
have a club your child likes, he may be able to start a club of his own.
Trying out clubs will help your child find something he likes to do, which can build competence and self-esteem.
