Removal From Peers

Children can learn oppositional behavior from other kids who can model this behavior or provide encouragement and positive reinforcement when your child misbehaves. If you think this is happening to your child, you may need to prevent your child from spending time with other oppositional peers. Alternatively, allow them to spend time together but ensure it is highly supervised by an adult (for example, playing a team sport or spending time with you and your child together). Talk to your child about how your friend's behavior is not acceptable and make your family's expectations clear.
