Dear Parent,
In order to do a better job of identifying children with autism, our office is
participating in a research project. The researchers hope to find out if a
computer system can help doctors do a better job of deciding which children
need a full autism evaluation. As you know, the questions you answered about your
child during his/her visit led me to be concerned about possible autism. If you
choose to participate in this study, you will be asked to take your child for a
full autism evaluation at Kennedy Krieger Institute in north Baltimore that will
be free of charge. You will be told the results.
The researchers will call you to ask if you would like to participate,
or you may contact them by calling the research assistant at 443-676-6613. You do
not have to participate. Your care will not be affected if you do not participate.
The project will pay you $100 if you participate.
