Hillcrest Clinic was established in 1973 and was the first independent abortion clinic in the Baltimore area. The clinic evolved out of a growing need in the community for abortion services, and has expanded rapidly in staff and available services. From its inception, Hillcrest has considered its role as being three-fold. ? First, Hillcrest provides, as a public service, a community education program dealing with the fields of reproductive biology and related health care. ? Second, Hillcrest offers medical and surgical abortion services on an out-patient basis. The clinic is staffed with professionals in the fields of medicine and counseling who are trained to help women deal with the problem of unwanted pregnancies. Hillcrest endeavors to offer an atmosphere of understanding and respect while maintaining confidentiality. ? Third, Hillcrest provides quality birth control and abortion services at a cost that women in the community can afford.
