Day Feeding Program at Kennedy Krieger Institute

Resource Type

Program

Description

The Pediatric Feeding Disorders Program combines the medical expertise of gastroenterology and the precise therapeutic techniques of behavioral psychology, along with the core disciplines of occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, nutrition and social work. The program aims to establish feeding patterns with appropriate nutritional value that can be maintained by the family in the home and other environments. The program's cost-effective, inter-disciplinary model meets each child's medical, nutritional, and behavioral needs. The program also emphasizes observable and measurable outcomes, and utilizes databased decision making in implementing treatment plans. The Day Treatment Program is designed for children who do not need around-the-clock medical supervision, but require more intensive therapy than can be provided on a regular outpatient basis.
