Social Interaction Variation

Social Interaction Variation

You said you were concerned that your child doesn't like to interact with people. But it rarely seems to interfere with his normal development and activities. Your child may have a temperament that makes them inhibited. Or there may be psychological reasons for why your child doesn't like to interact. For instance, your child may be less socially skilled than other children. Or your child may vary in his ability and desire to interact with people.

Talk to your doctor, even if you have talked about it before. Your doctor will have suggestions to help you and your child.

Adapted in part from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Primary Care (DSM-PC) (1996).
