A note about how you have been feeling

You reported you have not gotten help with how you have been feeling lately because you tried to get help before and it did not work. You must feel very frustrated with having taken the time to seek help and not getting anything out of your efforts. Unfortunately, counseling and therapy do not always help. This may be because not all counselors use strategies that research shows are effective. There is an approach to counseling called cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) that a lot of scientific research shows helps people who are feeling stressed or depressed. More and more counselors are trained in CBT now-a-days. If you are open to trying for help again and interested in this science-based approach, a good place to start may be asking your doctor or your child's doctor for referrals to mental health professionals trained in CBT, like a psychologist, social worker, or psychiatrist.
