Classroom accommodations for children with handwriting problems
- The teacher should hand homework tasks to child.
Copying from the blackboard should be minimized.
- Find a homework buddy who can help make sure that homework and books go home.
Find someone who can be called when they do not.
- Parents can copy math problems onto work sheet, but the child does the problems.
- Use peer's notes for studying.
- Let your child dictate reports and essays to you or into a dictaphone.
Provide a dictaphone for the teacher to listen to the tapes.
- The school can change testing procedures to oral exams or extra time.
- Teach typing/word processing.
