Why is it important to help my child get over
anxiety?
- When children avoid things that they are scared about, they don't gain "life skills"
- When children don't gain "life skills", they remain dependent on their parents
- Eventually, they may be unable to function as an adult without these skills
- Children who don't develop skills, or learn to cope with their fears often feel badly
about themselves
- Eventually, children will view themselves as failures and will have low self esteem
- It is important for parents to help their children face their fears to avoid this
- However, parents must be able to respect their child's fears and help them face it gently
