Weekday Limits on Media

School is the child's job. Too much media use on weekdays will not only interfere with homework but also takes time away from other ways of learning such as exploration, trips to museums or the library and reading. Even in when the school system requires no homework, weeknights should ideally be free of internet to encourage those activities. In addition, internet and cell phones often delay going to sleep, an essential step for learning, attention and mood. At the least, all electronics should be locked up away from the child's bedroom at bedtime to avoid temptation or sleep interruption from less well-managed peers.
