Protein Breakfast

Children taking stimulant medication often have less appetite when the medicine is in effect. It is important to assure that your child gets enough calories over the course of the day, even if he or she does not feel much like eating at lunchtime. A good breakfast with protein will help keep his or her energy up during the day. Eggs, nuts, peanut butter, cheese or cheese sticks, grilled cheese sandwich, hamburger, sliced turkey, milk, yogurt or beef jerky are all good choices. Be careful of fat content if your child is on Adderall as it is less well absorbed if taken with a fatty meal. Take you child to the store to help pick out snacks!
